In 2024, our office was commissioned to design a propagation and exhibition building for an arboretum.
The client began collecting plants 15 years ago with the goal of selecting ornamental and crop plants capable of withstanding the increasingly hot and dry summers caused by climate change. These plants are not only required to endure dry summers but also to tolerate winter temperatures as low as -10 to -15°C. The area has been populated with species meeting both criteria, and in 2024, the site was officially designated as an arboretum.
The collection includes several promising fruit species, such as pomegranate, fig, kiwi, strawberry tree, olive, and pistachio. The primary purpose of the planned building is to support the propagation and exhibition of plants within the arboretum, care for unique varieties, and process rare fruits.
Due to the unique environment, the client envisions the building's design evoking a Mediterranean atmosphere.
