Two types of prehomogenising halls are known, one is an elongated hall structure with a span of 40-60 m and the other is a hall structure consisting of segments that approximate a circle. Both have the same function, i.e. to premix the two basic raw materials for clinker production, limestone and clay.
The Beremendi prehomogeniser belongs to the latter type, i.e. the circular type. In the year of its construction, it was the largest of its kind in Europe.
Interestingly, according to internal data from Heidelberg Materials AG, the world's third largest cement multinational, no other design company has ever solved this problem with so little steel used per unit.
