About the project
- Capacity: 60 000 to
- Diameter: 58.5 m
- Height: 38 m
The foundation of the structural system was carried out with pile foundations adapted to the load. A geogrid reinforced compacted aggregate bedding was placed in the inner field of the storage. The dome structure was supported by a footing beam supported on piles around the perimeter.
The planned building consists of a 9 m high vertical cylindrical section and a 29 m diameter spherical dome covering it. The wall thickness of the shell structure is a constant 30 cm in the vertical section, decreasing to 20 cm at the top. The dome silo is a conventional reinforced concrete structure.
The formwork of the dome structure is made using the airform process, already used worldwide by Dome Technology, whereby an airbag is inflated with fans to the desired dome shape, which then forms the outer plane of the structure. On the inner half, the reinforcement is placed and the wall thickness is created with shotcrete.
